Hi! This is my first post and I’m 1/2 excited, 1/2 terrified. Terrified of the unknown. But, I keep pushing myself to the next stepping stone. I’m excited to start sharing with you and thought my first post would be about how I got myself where I am.
My story starts with a bikini fitness competition I entered when my youngest daughter was just shy of turning 2 years old. I was at a point in my life that I needed something for me after giving birth to 3 kids. I felt a little lost and a little post-partum. Crazy, yes! But I thought it was a natural fit since it has always been something I loved to do. I put a message out to the universe, aka. Facebook, to make it real and so I couldn’t back out.
The process was fun (fun enough to sign up for a 2nd competition), the competition was scary but I got through it. I learned a lot about myself, good and bad. I learned what I liked about the competition process and what I didn’t (wasn’t able to make my list until the competition was over because I was in GO! MODE). Maybe I needed something to keep my mind occupied at that time. Whatever it was that I needed, I did it and am proud that I can step into something new, even at the ripe age of 40.
That competition lead to my desire to study for a personal training certification. All the studying paid off and passed the CPT test. I am still keeping my 5-year plan open, not sure where I will land and I’m ok with that. I’m listening to my gut and what my mind tells me to do (ha, within good reason). And that feels good.
I want to teach everyone that meditation isn’t some crazy form of voodoo. Cool people can meditate and still be cool. I want to help people find their fat-loss formula through nutrition, not some mass-produced version, one-size-fits-all. It just doesn’t work like that. At least not if you are looking for something maintainable. Yoga is not just a class on stretching, it is so much more than that if you are open to it and willing to invite it in.
I hope you enjoy the ride along with me.
